Crimson cloud

The flower of the week has got to be this "Crimson cloud" that i found at a local nursery. The shop keeper thought i was a little nuts taking pics until i explained that i was a jeweller that derives all her inspiration from plant shape and form. He laughed at me when i told him that i was from South Africa, because this plant is indigenous to Africa. I'll have to go back and show him the range when its done.

I think besides the beautiful cascading flowers that remind me Japanese prints, the name is just poetic, I'll have to give the jewellery a similar charm.

Here are some pics.

Random treasures of art

Brisbane is grate! You can walk around, as I've said before and find such wonderful pieces of art. They are like little treasures to the artist mind. Or in the spirit of Easter that has just passed ....they are the artistic Easter eggs that the creative mind loves to find and gorge on!

Here are some of my finds:
Seed pods in an inner city building

Pelicans near South bank

Snails and flowers in Roma park

A picture stands for a thousand words

I was surfing the net the other day when i came across Alison Trentleman's photography of one of my favourite sites for craft and design: Modish.
Alison shows her unique work under the label of " Rocky Top Studio ", with both a web site and a blog to show off her style of photography.

It was her images featured in " Modish" , that apealed to me. These close up shots of fine moss and fungus has rendered me speechless, ill let them speak for them selves..... enjoy!
