Mixed flowers

I must apologise for being absent from my blog, after a month of computer mishaps, children's ailments and the flue knocking me out for a bit .......i am back .....my child is back to his mischievous self, and my husband and i have finally replaced our old computer. Now it will be a lot easier for me to blog when I'm not confined to 30min at a time to do all my work before it dies.

The month of February, or month of love for some, has lead me to a new love, well an old love rekindled. I had the opportunity to design and create a set of jewellery with cut stones in,.... blue and purple where the preference. So i used Amethyst and London blue topaz, stunning colours with the silver. Jumping at the opportunity, I used this moment to make up some ideas that i have been playing around with. There was a time frame added to the mix...... so using, as always, the pressure of a deadline to push past procrastination masked as perfectionism or uncertainty i create a beautiful set of jewellery, a bangle and matching earrings.

The result......

From this i have now create a new range called Mixed flowers: with earrings, bangles and rings, to start. I will be keeping with shades of blue and purple, but i can already see my head spinning into different ideas.

The first batch are to go down to The Goldsmiths Gallery, soon.

As for all those other fans waiting with bated breath for more stone pieces they are on the way.

Have a daisytastic Christmas!

The last of my express orders for Christmas go out today.....but that does not mean a chance to rest. Just catching my breath as just like Santa's little helpers i will be making till the last minute to get orders finished and a bit of a head start on my new stock for January. Next year i will be hitting the ground running with fantastic new designs, more stock in my Etsy shop, an New website and a list of market and retail venues to dish out....... as well as some new exhibition to attend.

I will leave you with these Daisy ring images and wish you all a merry Christmas!

Fading chrysanthemums

Well for my birthday that just past I got mitchel to smooch paint a card for me. I masked a card to his high chair and placed paint in a tray in front of him; with some on the card...... he took great delight in smearing the paint all over, and eating a little (its non toxic!). After the fun of smeared colour i took it away to dry, and then it’s my turn to interpret his painting. It’s like doing a puzzle.

So here are my “fading chrysanthemums”. They are quite poetic and I love them!

Sculptural Grass

The other side of the spectrum in sculptural grass would be these works byMathilde Roussel - Geraudy: "life of grass works", as shown below. I love the sense of time from sown seed to growing wheat grass its an ever changing sculpture, each day a new dimension is added to the work. Although the artist in this case is talking about the cycle of food. There is still a sence of time. This sense of time in nature, reminds me of one of my favourite artist Andy Goldsworthy.

I found these works through a Google search: Grass Sculpture and found it in , blog.gessato.com
